Philippine authorities stepped up security and transport preparations on October 30 as travellers headed to their home provinces and families prepared to visit cemeteries for Undas.
The Philippine National Police placed its units nationwide on full alert through November 3. Police said approximately 141,000 personnel, including augmentation forces, had been deployed for the holiday operation, with attention to cemeteries, transport hubs, roads and residential areas.
Transport authorities said inspections were being conducted at airports, seaports and bus terminals. These include checks on public utility vehicles and drivers, while additional bus permits and passenger-vessel arrangements are intended to accommodate holiday demand.
Major terminals are also providing assistance desks during the travel period. Passengers should check their operator’s latest departure information and local traffic advisories, particularly where road works or cemetery access restrictions affect routes. The preparations cover both the outward journey and the return of travellers after the observance.
